The Townsville Xstrata Greek Fest were the winners of the 2011 North Queensland Tourism Award. The Greek Fest won the tourism award for the category of Festivals and Events.

Congratulations to all involved - The organisers, the Hellenic Dancers, the volunteers who worked in the marquees and round the park as well as all of our sponsors.

2012 is set to host a bigger and better Greek Fest than ever before! This cultural festival is a FREE community event, held over the weekend of the 13th and 14th of October at Riverway.
Below is an overview of the many performances and events on show at the 2012 Townsville Greek Fest. The final attraction information will be updated here in September.

Popular Greek band will fill Riverway with the sounds of Greece this October.

Enjoy an entertaining mix of traditional and modern music played on the bouzouki.




Greek Dancing

Loads of Dancing:

You will be treated to dances from all over Greece and Asia Minor by several great dance groups. Exquisite costumes and interesting dances will keep you entertained the whole weekend.

Cooking with Bico and Litsa

Elliniki Kouzina (Greek Kitchen):

In this year cooking demonstrations you will be taken on a culinary journey in the outdoor Greek Festival Elliniki Kouzina (kitchen) with Litsa Stylianos, where you will be taught the art of fantastic Greek cooking - entrees, mains and desserts. You will be given a sample of what is made to taste.

Our very own Xstrata Greek Fest cookbook will also be on sale so you can try your hand at Greek dishes at home too!

    Dancing Lessons:

    Over both days you will have an opportunity to learn Greek dancing!

    Learn traditional Greek dancing with the Hellenic Dancers and get your hips gyrating when you try belly dancing with the fantastic Scimitar Moon Belly Dancers.

    This year there will be a huge range of rides for young and old to enjoy. They will be available throughout the whole weekend.

    Dodgem Cars, Super Swing, Roller Coaster, Double Bubble, Ferris Wheel, Super Slide, Shooting Gallery, Laughing Clowns.

    Melville's Animal Farm:
    Bring the children to pat the baby animals.

    There will be plenty to do in the children's marquee including:
